It appears that 80% of the people who suffer from Osteoporosis are doing so because of an inflammatory reaction associated with Calcium. This occurs when the bodies NMDA receptors become activated which causes massive amounts of calcium to be drawn into the cell leading injured brain cells and increased cell death.

Strangely enough the commonly recommended treatment for Osteoporosis ends up providing additional calcium that fuels more cell death-and injury to brain cells. For these patients’ calcium supplementation increases inflammation causing pain, cytoskeletal breakdown, cell membrane damage and intracellular build up of both Protein Kinase C (PKC) and CaM Kinase II
Protein Kinase C is associated with a number of processes important in certain diseases, notably solid tumors and endothelial damage in diabetes. CaM Kinase II has been shown to regulate diverse cellular functions including synaptic plasticity, neurotransmitter synthesis and release, gene expression, ion channel function, carbohydrate metabolism, cytoskeletal function, and Ca2+-homeostasis. The buildup of CaM Kinase II interferes with these along with memory and learning processes.
What is actually needed is Dr. Nieper’s Zinc and Magnesium Orotate and Asparate. These nutrients help to inactivate the NMDA receptors. This stops the damaging flow of calcium into the cell providing stores that can now be used elsewhere.
We must also reduce the levels of inflammatory PGE2 through the use of Omega 3 generators such as Flax Seed Oil (take with protein), fish oil and Sea Buckthorn oil. The goal here is to bring the body into a state where the omega 6 to omega 3 ratio is from 4:1 to 1:1. Sea Buckthorn is the only product I know of that supplies omega 6 and omega 3 in what is thought to be the ideal 1:1 ratio.
Of course Osteoporitic patients are also fighting against a barrage of free-radicals against which Sea Buckthorn Oil has also proven to be highly effective.
There’s one more task to accomplish before the body will restore calcium levels to the bones. The vitamin D deficiency that is highly prevalent in Osteoporosis (and many other condtions) needs to be addressed. This is because calcium transport requires vitamin D and vitamin K which are fat soluble vitamins. We see both lower vitamin D and lower vitamin K in patients with gut absorption issues such as dysbiosis and leaky gut syndrome both of which are strongly connected to the presence of a Yeast/Fungal Infection which is present in nearly every compromised adrenal, thyroid or autoimmune disorder.
With inactive NMDA receptors, inflammation and free radical levels under control, and Vitamin D deficiency handled the body can now use products like Dr. Nieper’s Calcium Aspartate, Calcium Orotate and Membrane Complex to restore cell membrane integrity and increase bone density.
